Sands Why17? Campaign
In June 2008, Sands launched a public awareness campaign highlighting the shocking statistics of 17 babies dying per day in the UK, from stillbirth or neonatal death. They have set up a dedicated website to the campaign and it can be found at www.why17.org
During 2009, the campaign was successfully launched in England at Westmister in March and in the Welsh Assembly in June.
On Wednesday 18th November 2009, the Why17? Campaign was officially launched at the Scottish Parliament in Holyrood. Many bereaved parents were present at the launch and there was significant media coverage in the run up to the day and for a few days after.
