Although UK Sands is a large national charity, local Sands groups, like Forth Valley, receive no central funding. As a group, we have to try and raise our own money, so that we can provide support to those local families that need it.

In the past few years we have held a Family Night, a Race Night and two ceilidhs. Due to it's success, we are hoping to make the ceilidh an annual event.

Through other kind donations from friends and families and the fund raising events above, we have been able to donate the following items to Forth Valley Royal -

• a full sized Moses basket to the maternity unit
• two premature baby sized Moses baskets to the maternity unit
• soft furnishings for the new family room
• a painting for the quiet room
• Sands Information folders for bereaved parents, containing various support material 
• copies of the Sands Guidelines for Professionals to the midwives
• funding for 4 midwives and 3 students to attend a national conference on uncertainty and loss in maternity and neonatal care
• memory cards for the hospital camera
• a supply of memory boxes for bereaved parents

We have also donated new wooden benches to the local baby gardens.

During 2010 and 2011, we hosted Sands "Guidelines for Professionals" courses for student midwives and health visitors, and supplied a copy of the guidelines book to all attendees.
