Although UK Sands is a large national charity, local Sands groups, like Forth Valley, receive no central funding. As a group, we have to try and raise our own money, so that we can provide support to those local families that need it.

In 2008, we held two main fundraising events - a Family Night in March and a Race Night in September. In 2009 we were very lucky to receive the proceeds of the Falkirk Ladies Circle fashion show fundraising event and we held a very popular ceilidh in September. Due to it's success, we are hoping to make the ceilidh an annual event.

Through other kind donations, a sponsored 10k by one of our committee members and the fund raising events above, we have been able to donate the following items to Stirling Royal Infirmary

• a full sized Moses basket to the maternity unit
• two premature baby sized Moses baskets to the maternity unit
• soft furnishings for the new family room
• a painting for the quiet room
• Sands Information folders for bereaved parents, containing various support material 
• copies of the Sands Guidelines for Professionals to the midwives
• funding for 4 midwives and 3 students to attend a national conference on uncertainty and loss in maternity and neonatal care

We have also donated new wooden benches to the local baby gardens.
